On its inner cover has been attached a letter from Donald Ferguson, who it seems donated this dictionary to the Royal Asiatic Society. He bought the volume at a sale of books of Reverend David de Silva, Wesleyan minister, on 29 June 1878. Ferguson surmises that this is the third of four volumes originally written by Gogerly.
