              Correspondence concerned with the first Congress of the Federation of Learned Societies of North Africa, held at Algiers University from 10-11 June 1935. These are:

              • Letter from Société Historique Algérienne to the President of the Royal Asiatic Society to inform of the first Congress of the Federation of Learned Societies of North Africa and to invite the Royal Asiatic Society to send a representative. The letter informs of the subjects to be discussed. Typed in French, dated 6 February 1935.
              • Letter from Col. Hoysted, Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to The Secretary, Société Historique Algérienne, to apologise for the delay in replying to their letter but he was still waiting to hear of a suitable representative. Typed, dated 13 March 1935.
              • Letter from Professor Henri Pérès to the Royal Asiatic Society to write that is would be an honour to represent the Royal Asiatic Society at the Congress. Handwritten in French, date 15 April 1935.
              • Letter from D.S. Margoliouth, President, Royal Asiatic Society, to Col. Hoysted, Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to enclose the letter from Professor Pérès accepting the invitation to represent the Society at the Congress. Handwritten, dated 22 April 1935.
              • Letter from Col. Hoysted, Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to Professor Pérès to send the official form from the Society for the Congress. Typed, dated 7 May 1935.
              • Letter from Col. Hoysted, Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to the Secretary General, Société Historique Algérienne, concerning the Royal Asiatic Society's representation at the Congress, and to inform that Professor Henri Pérès would represent the Society. Typed, dated 10 May 1935.

              Lists of Royal Asiatic Society "Delegate Representatives" attending conferences from November 1930 to September 1939. The first sheet, A, covering the time period 1930-1933, lists the Conferences but not the delegates. Sheets B & C, covering 1933-1939, give the delegates appointed.

              The Royal Asiatic Society moved into the premises, 14 Grafton Street, in 1824 and remained there until 1848. Unfortunately no original archival material remains dating from this time, but there are historic photographs, plans of the premises and some accumulated research notes among the material connected to 14 Grafton Street.

              Black and White photographs of 14 Grafton Street. These are

              • Two identical photographs of the exterior, one mounted on board. The ground floor window bears the name, J. Havilland and the first floor, Guerlain. It is unknown when these photographs were taken or their source.
              • Five interior photographs showing hall and stairways. These show both Havilland and Catchpole & Williams signs. The photographs are copies from the London Metropolitan Archive numbers 64/4117 - 64/4120 and 70/2063.

              Connected to these photographs are two items of correspondence:

              • Letter from Michael Pollock, Royal Asiatic Society Librarian, to Mr M. Scott, Senior Librarian, London Metropolitan Archives, to state that he had recently purchase 5 photographs of 14 Grafton Street from London Metropolitan Archives and seeking permission to use them, with attribution, in displays. Typed, dated 6 April 1998.
              • Letter from Mick Scott, Senior Librarian, London Metropolitan Archives, to Michael Pollock, Royal Asiatic Society Librarian, to state he is happy for the photographs to be added to the Society's archive and to remind that a reproduction fee would be payable if there were used in any publication. Typed with printed letterhead, dated 28 April 1998.

              Copies of plans for ground, first, second and third floors of 14 Grafton Street with two further sheets labelled as "proposed alterations" to first, second and third floors.

              The Royal Asiatic Society leased the premises at 5 New Burlington Street from 1848 to 1869. There is no original archival material for this period. These papers consist of copies of a perspective drawing executed from Regent Street. There are 2 copies of this view with an explanatory note. And a further copy of numbers 78-86.
