With the letter is the translation concerning the habits of the Wakhi. Both typed, 2 pieces, letter dated 3 August 1946. A letter in Urdu concerning the Ishkoman Wakhis is also with this letter. Letter from Roland Carter to Miss Nielsen, Royal Asiatic Society, to enclose some notes on language hunting which Col. Lorimer had sent him as a young political officer in Gilgit, and some further notes that Garter had made of a tour in Gupis & Ishkoman. He is donating these to the Royal Asiatic Society. Handwritten, 2 sides, dated 21 January 1967.

Diary of a tour from Gilgit - daily notes made of a trip leaving Gilgit on 14 April 1947, probably that made by Carter as mentioned in the letter LOR/2/1/5. Entries continue until 29 April 1947, all of which are contained within a notebook. There are several unwritten pages but the final page has notes on Ballade from Mesdemoiselles Eden. The inside cover of the notebook, back and front have been covered in calculations; the cover has become detached from the pages. Soft light brown cover notebook with ruled pages.

The Papers of Lucian Scherman consist of a printed copy of an original birthday message that was sent as a bound copy, with 213 signatures, to Munich, for presentation to Professor Scherman on the occasion of his 70th birthday. It is entitled "Lucian Scherman zum 70th Geburtstage". This version is unbound and unsigned.

These papers consist of two manuscripts written by Gillett during his time as Consul in Kashgar. They are "Some Notes on the Blue Turkish Tongue" and "A Practical Introduction to Turki, Part I & Part II".

"A Practical Introduction to Turki, Part I & Part II" from the "Office of the British Consulate-General, Kashagar". Inside is a further title, "A Practical Introduction to Turki with Special Reference to Kashgar Usage."by "M.C. Gillett & Pandit Bihari Lal with the help of the staff of His Majesty's Consulate-General, Kashgar". Also handwritten is "Author's Copy" and signed MC Gillett. Typed manuscript dedicated to the memory of Geoffrey Redmayne Turral, First British Consul in Urumchi, 1943-1946, and a connoisseur of Central Asia. Within the preface, Gillett explains that he wrote the book as he felt when in Kashgar that there was no book suitable for a beginner of the Eastern Turki tongue. The book was written by the end of 1944 with additions and alterations in 1945. The dedication suggests further alterations in 1946.There are some further handwritten pages inserted into the beginning of the book with the title "English-Turki vocabulary to Part I converted to the [Nari loff's] Romanization." Typed within a soft cover.
