The papers consist of a single letter from John Haffenden, Malaysian Agency, British and Foreign Bible Society, to William Edward Maxwell to send two copies of the "Acts of the Apostle" in Malay (Arabic character) which had been printed in Europe by the Society. Haffenden asks Maxwell for his opinion on the type with which the book has been printed. The letter is dated Singapore, 18 January 1889.

The archive consists of correspondence from William Jones to Samuel Davis, some correspondence from Joseph Banks and Lord Teignmouth with and regarding Lady Jones, various botanical sketches and notes and a Sale Catalogue for the books of William Jones' lLbrary.

The Correspondence from William Jones to Samuel Davis consists of 37 letters collected into a brown leather bound book, approximately in date order. The introduction to the book states the letters are "chiefly concerning the Literature & Science of Asia; including some of the early history of the Asiatic Society of Calcutta." The correspondence reveals a lively communication from Jones to Davis and often concerning Davis interest in Indian astronomy.

Also within the book is a handwritten version of an introduction to these letters as printed in the "Transactions of the Royal Asiatic Society Vol. III - Part I", 1831 in which all the letters were printed

The letters also contain one letter from Sir Joesph Banks to Samuel Davis thanking him for paper on the History of Astronomy which Banks had communicated to the Royal Society and remarks from a Mr Cavendish. These are handwritten and the letter is dated March 18th, 1790

Two Letters written by Sir Joseph Banks in 1797 regarding a donation of books made by Lady Anna Maria Jones to the Royal Society

The letter concerns a book wrongly donated to the Royal Society by Lady Jones' that belongs to the Reverend [Boulter] and asking that the gentleman would claim it from the Royal Society apartments.

Sir Joseph Banks writes that he does not consider that Mr [Wilkins] needs any assistance but if Major [Barclay] wishes to ask directly then Mr Wilkins can accept or decline as he wishes.

The final paragraph of the letter reports to Lady Jones how well her donation was received at the Royal Society.

This letter from Joseph Banks asks Lady Jones to request that [Doctor Breten] puts in writing about the book belonging to him that was wrongly included in a donation by Lady and Sir William Jones to the Royal Society.

There are two letters from John Shore, 1st Baron Teignmouth, one to Lady Anna Maria Jones and one to "Dear Sir", both expressing concern regarding Lady Jones' health.

This letter expresses concern regarding Lady Jones' health and making arrangements to see a notary concerning obtaining a burial certificate, that he will testify that he saw William Jones when dead. An added note in a different hand dates this letter to 26th May, 1829.

This letter expresses Teignmouth's concern that Lady Jones was unable to see him that morning because of ill health and so could not peruse the papers that he wanted to show her. He will instead take them to Great Marlborough Street to Mr Hare.

A note in a different hand dates the letter to 1829 and states this was when Lord Teignmouth was 77 years old.
