Letter from H. Higgens to W.E.D. Allen in which Higgens asks Allen to pay for the last piece of translation he did for him, at a rate agreed in a letter from 6 October. He writes that he is working his way through Allen's book and will leave it at his office once he has finished it. He asks if Allen could 'xenograph' another book, which Allen's wife 'will not allow to leave the house', so that he can read it and attempt to translate its Russian text. He also offers to sub-edit Allen's work for the Hakluyt Society. Dated: 21 December 1964.

Totalling 17,176 words, at a rate of £3 -10 per 1000 words, the cost is £56. He says he will return Allen's book of ambassadors' reports to his office by the end of the month. Letter from H. Higgens to W.E.D. Allen in which Higgens writes that he has few suggestions on Zvemigorowski and Tatishchev. He praises Allen's 'marvellous library' and asks if he is interested in buying a facsimile of the 'Apocalypse' owned by Trinity College, Cambridge. He thanks Allen for his hospitality and for taking him to Cashel to see Sheila-Na-Gig and the diocese library, where he enjoyed viewing their edition of Napier. He promises to send the book references that they discussed. Dated: 1 March 1967.

He says he will send a carbon copy of Muratoff's drafts for his book on Anglo-Russian relations for Higgens to judge how they can collaborate on them. Dated: 15 March 1967.

Letter from H. Higgens to W.E.D. Allen in which Higgens says he looks forward to studying the Muratoff drafts and collaborating with Allen on them. He reports that he has finished correcting the translation of Herzen's memoirs for Chatto and is now working on the index. He encloses a copy of Nabokov on Gogol and Ian Grey on Ivan III, which Allen had asked to borrow, as well as the Penguin 'Atlas of Medieval History', which he likes for its information on the Khazans and the Ghuzz. He promises to send a note about Sheila-na-gig, but expresses hesitation about meeting a Russian called Yevtushenko, since he fears his spoken Russian is no longer good enough. He hopes Allen and Roger Machell can dine with him at some point. Attached to the letter are notes on the meaning of the word 'incony', used in 'Love's Labour's Lost', 'gubbins', and 'Mangyt'.
