Allen cannot answer Armstrong's query on n John Castle's mission to the Kirghis-Kaisak Tartar Horde. Allen finally informs Armstrong that he does not personally know Finnish naturalist Sahlberg and has no means of contacting him. Dated: 28 July 1970.

Letter from W.E.D. Allen to Terence Armstrong in which he apologises for his tardiness in reply. He is pleased to hear of Armstrong's progress on the Veniaminov materials. Allen also writes that he spent a pleasant day with Sir John Galvin, but unfortunately since then Galvin had suffered from 2 heart attacks and must now take it easy. Allen has not yet written to Professor Stradius of Riga University. He writes on his plan to send copies of Russian Embassies to Russia and how he expects to receive advance copies any day. Embassy to inform him that his book is about to be published and that he would like to send advance copies to Professor Abayev and Academicians Amiranashvili and Tsereteli. Allen wishes to send these to the Embassy for them to be sent to the Soviet due to problems with postage. Letter dictated by and signed on behalf of Allen. Dated: 28 October 1970.

Armstrong has received a publicity slip for Ma Huan and suggest Allen obtain a copy through Alexa Barrow if he wants one. Armstrong supplies the name of H.R. Mackenzie of King's College who is good at Russian and Persian. Dated: 19 April 1971.
