This is a pencil sketch with inscription on the reverse "A Senyasi, or Zealot smoking his Hukkah and giving orders for the dimensions of the grave in which he was buried alive at his own desire, though the Verzir's brother Saadat Ali offered him a large sum to abandon his enthusiastick resolution. Benares, 27 Jan. 1785"

This is one of two watercolour portraits of Ramlochan who was William Jones' Sanskrit teacher. In this picture the teacher or pundit is sat in a chair with a pen in his right hand and a manuscript across his lap. The inscription above the picture reads "Ramlochan Cantaberna of the Vaidya or Medical tribe, a teacher of Sanscrit Grammar in the HIndu Seminary at Nadiya. Aged 65 years. 15 Oct. 1785"

This is one of two watercolour pictures of Ramlochan Cantaberna. In this picture he is seated in a chair at a desk with pen in one hand and a manuscript in the other. The inscription above states "Ramlochan Cantaberna of the Vaidya Cast, a physician and schoolmaster at Nediya, aged 65 yrs." Below the inscription reads "Crishna-nagar, 15 Oct. 1785".

This card has a watercolour sketch of a compound into which a buffalo is being led to fight a tiger. The front shows the annotations B, D, H, T & G which are described on the reverse of the card: B is the buffalo, T is the tiger's cage, D is the dying tiger, H is the room from which the combat was viewed and G a building belonging to Charles Croftes.

This is a sketch of a buffalo, presumably the one that took part in the fight of WJ/3/1/4. The inscription above gives both Sanskrit and Persian words for the buffalo.

This sketch show a dying tiger and is entitled "A Tiger killed by a Buffalo, 4 March 1786" It also has inscribed the Sanskrit and Persian names for a tiger.

This is a sketchbook of botanical drawings consisting of sheets of paper sewn together. One is signed AMJ (Anna Maria Jones), Others have inscriptions by William Jones. The specimens were drawn at Krishnagar, October 1789, September - October 1791, September - October, 1792; Harishnagar May - July, 1791, March - May 1792; and Calcutta, March 1793. Most of the sketches are in pencil with some watercolour additions. Among the labelled ones there are:

• Hydrophyllum, dated 26 October 1791
• Capparis, dated 19 August 1791
• Crotalaria, dated 12 July 1791
• Cerbera Manghas, dated 26 July 1791
• Pistia, dated 30 September 1791

• Celtis Orientalis
• Coocoo Cheri, dated 1793

Also within the sketchbook are some herbarium specimens.

These are loose sheets of paper with pencil or ink sketches of plants and added notes concerning the specimens. Among the labelled ones there are:

• Male and female flowers of Cucurbitacea, dated 13 October 1792
• Convolvulus and Trichosanthos
• Bryonia Luciniosa, dated October 1792
• Ipomoea pes-tigridis, dated 2 October 1792
• Phaseolus Mungo

These include both botanical and other sketches including a butterfly and a building. The notes are in more than one hand, some accompanying the drawings, some describing specimens and one concerning mixing of paint. Among the labelled ones there are:

• Thalia Tapari
• Mimosa Pudica
• Celosia Nodiflora
• 'a variety of Convolvulus Batatas’

These are 3 large sketches presumably by Lady Jones. Only one has an accompanying description which dates it to 17th March [1790]. This is a pencil sketch of a climbing plant in the Company's Botanical Gardens near Calcutta (Kolkata). The second sketch is in pencil with a single flower in colour but with no annotation. The third sketch is also in pencil with leaves and flower in colour.

Each of these three drawings has been given a reference number used in the Head catalogue, including 025.037, 025.067 and one from the sub-collection of 025.054-025.068 (likely 025.066 as the remaining numbers have all been assigned).
