Letter from Terence Phelps to Michael Willis, 18 March 1996, in which he thanks Willis for sending an article on early Indian scripts. He states his reservations concerning the article. He asks to be informed if Willis knows of the posthumous deposit of Fleet's papers. With the letter is:

  • a copy of part of the book, 'Asoka and the Decline of the Mauryas by Romila Thapar', Oxford University Press, 1963, pp. 6-7, 258-263,
  • an annotated map to show the possible Sravasti site,
  • an annotated copy of the will of John Faithfull Fleet with attached note from Phelps concerning the condition of Fleet's gravestone.
