Allen to Peter Skelton in which Allen requests clarification on their meeting He also writes about Sir Hamilton Gibb's proposal to find someone to translate the Egyptian section of Evliya Celebi and that Allen thought somebody at Durham University was already working on it. He regrets that he has not got a copy of the book Skelton requires but suggests a good bookseller in Rome where he may be able to obtain it. Dated: 14 July 1958.

Ménage also discusses different versions of the text that were censored or modified at the time and how this difference could be addressed critically by the editors. Dated: 4 April 1960.

He also discusses issues arising from the unwillingness of Turkish authorities to help in presenting Celebi's work for political reasons including his favorable depictions of Armenians and Kurds as well as the reality of his Ottoman identity which Allen feels clashes with the new more European identity contemporary Turks prefer to adopt. Ménage also writes of his frustrations in trying to obtain photographs from the Turkish authorities though he is trying to give them a boost and priase their efforts at restoration.
