Mowat, University of Bristol, to Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to ask whether it is possible for one of their students to enter the competition though he has been matriculated for six years rather than the specified five years in the rules. He asks whether an exception could be made as one of the years had been spent with training in the Education Department, during which time independent research was not allowed. Letter from Col. Hoysted, RAS Secretary, to Professor R.B. Mowat, to inform that his request for an extension on the time limit would be put before the Council on 12th March. Typed, dated 17 February 1936. With this letter is a note in Hoysted's handwriting to state that Professor Margoliouth had written to state that is was desirable to get good work for the Prize Essay and he therefore hoped that the Council could meet the candidate's wishes.
