GB 891 JDB-JDB/1-JDB/1/5 · Documento · [1868-1930]
Parte de Papers of John Drew Bate

This is a handwritten article about Hindi music - a 'neat' copy with no annotations. It is undated but accompanying it are 2 newspaper clippings from "The Times of India" concerning the Revival of Indian Music in Indian Schools, dated 3rd August, 1930. These therefore must have been put with the article at a later date, possibly by E E Bate

These papers contain two handwritten drafts of the article. One draft is written on pages created from cutting up newsheets which are dated 1895. The second version, though undated, is probably of a later date and it has an accompanying draft of a letter from John Drew Bate, probably to the Royal Asiatic Society, in response to an article published in a Journal regarding the origin of Phoenician and Indian alphabets.
