These are official documents which allow Manning to move around in France during the time of the Napoleonic conflict with England. There are also drafts of letters from Thomas Manning requesting permission to travel in France and to return to England.

• Congrès des Sciences Anthropologiques et Ethnologiques. Règlement Général - List of Articles concerning the purpose and regulation of the Congresses. Written in French.
• International Congress of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences. Letter to invite attendance at the Congress. It describes the History and Organisation of the Congress, the Date and Place of the London Session and the Sections of the Conference. It asks for subscriptions for membership at the Congress and is signed by the British members of the Permanent Council and the British National Secretaries.
• Congrès des Sciences Anthropologiques et Ethnologiques. Letter to invite attendance at the Congress with a list of the President, Committee of Honour, Bureau and Permanent Council. Also an Application Form for Membership of the Congress. Written in French.
• International Congress of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences. Letter, list and form as above, written in English. Two copies, one of which has been annotated.

Examination papers taken by William Pettigrew to test proficiency in Manipuri language and Hindustani tribal culture and accompanied by a note from the examiner congratulating William Pettigrew for passing the exam.

Five letters handwritten in Arabic and Persian script addressed to and from Sir Frederic John Goldsmid, Al-Azeez Ibrahim Iftadhi Burma, Shihav al-din Mahar, Al-Qadi and Mikhail abd-al Massih; most of these letters are of official matter relating to each person.

Dated 9 prairial an 11 (29th May 1803). Handwritten, 1 piece, 1 side. Also a partial handwritten copy, 1 piece, 1 side. This is accompanied by a letter from Belville to Manning, notifying him of the permission. Also dated 9 prairial an 11. Handwritten, 1 piece, 1 side
