Letter from Archibald Campbell to Brian Houghton Hodgson thanking Hodgson for the grapes which were very good and Ayres is a gentleman for bringing them. He is free from pain but very weak. He asks that Hodgson return his enclosures when Hodgson has finished with them and that he will send his copy of Brian's Nipal Papers to Colonel Haughton. Campbell writes his news of affairs in Sikkim and Tibet and that he had written to George Campbell expressing his opinion that the Raja would meet with great opposition to his news. Archibald CampbellLetter from Archibald Campbell to Brian Houghton Hodgson in which he addresses Hodgson's concerns that the "Venice fever was cropping up again". He suggests that, if it continues to the Spring, Hodgson must give his wife a change. Campbell writes that everyone is reading "Lawrence's Life" and that Campbell takes every opportunity to discredit the Nepal portion. He writes about "Geo Campbell visited Willies station t'other day... My first acquaintance was a pleasant surprise...not however a likeable man". Campbell then suggests that "no doubt my name and other manners are uncommon bad!" but suggests Lawrence is alienating the B.C.S. Archibald CampbellLetter from Archibald Campbell to Brian Houghton Hodgson in which he writes that as Hodgson is to see Gridlestone (Charles Gridlestone, British resident) and Sir L. Mallet (Sir Louis Mallet CB PC), he may wish to have the full sketch of Relations up to Campbell's time which he sends. Archibald CampbellLetter from Archibald Campbell to Brian Houghton Hodgson in which Campbell writes that the Society agrees about having Alcock on the Deputation if the time will suit him. However the Secretary does not want the Society to reprint Hodgson's Trade Paper. Campbell does not, as yet, know the time of the Deputation. He has promised to be at the William Taylor Lecture on the evening of the 25th and also to take 2 of the girls to the Exhibition on the same day. He asks if they may call at Hodgson's around 5pm. Archibald CampbellLetter from Archibald Campbell to Brian Houghton Hodgson in which he writes that Colonel Haughton is here at last and he has given him Hodgson's address. Campbell has asked Haughton to visit him as he is still unwell. Haughton is back with a Pension from the Navy of £200 a year on compulsory retirement and is talking of setting up at Beaugham. He suggests that an occasional note from Hodgson to Haughton would be useful. Campbell had written to Sir G.C saying that "Nepal trade concerned him deeply independent of the passage into Thibet". Alcock, (Sir Rutherford Alcock) who had preceded Campbell, had said little about Turkestan but much about Nepal, Tibet and Sikkim. Campbell had arranged to meet up with him when next in London. Archibald CampbellLetter from Archibald Campbell to Brian Houghton Hodgson in which he writes that the snow frightens him and therefore he will probably not go up to the meeting that evening. In view of this he has sent a Paper to be read at the meeting. The Society (of Arts) proposes to follow up the meeting with a Deputation to the India Office and have named Hyde Clarke (1815 – 1895) and Campbell to follow up as regards Nepal and Tibet. They had urged Campbell to encourage Hodgson to join the Deputation but Campbell had pointed out that Hodgson would not come to any meeting. He asks whether Hodgson would send a memo to help.
