He further writes that the Darbar [of the state of Manipur] had a fund for historical and archaeological research which may fund the publication, but otherwise he is willing to make a personal contribution towards the publication. Letter from Christopher Gimson to Dr Werelius asking for help to get hold of Pettigrew's papers for the monograph on Archaic Meitei. He writes that Pettigrew's principal assistant in the work, Yumjao Singh, has said that he can finish it off for publication if Pettigrew is not coming back [to Manipur].
