It contains an article by Gerald Tibbetts entitled: 'Early Western Cartography and the Arabian Peninsula.' Also contains a typed letter thanking Gerald for his contribution to the journal.

Volume 9 of The Malayan Journal of Tropical Geography, published by The Department of Geography at the University of Malaya in Singapore. This includes an article by Gerald Tibbetts entitled: 'The Malay Peninsula as known to the Arab Geographers.' Inserted into one of the volumes is a Purchase Order from the Library of Congress for new books and periodicals. Inserted within the other volume is printed music and lyrics for 'Malayan Patriotic Song' and a sheet of handwritten notes.

Series contains material relating to Tibbett's role as consultant in the Sindbad voyage project (1980-1981), which was led by Tim Severin. This was an attempt to recreate the fictional voyage of Sindbad the sailor in the publication 'The book of one thousand and one nights.' This involved creating a replica of an early Arab trading ship and completing a 6,000 mile journey to sail it all the way to China. Most of this material concerns the Heritage of Oman festival which sponsored the voyage.
