Two books of testimonials compiled to bring together all the accolades and achievements of Hodgson.

"Copied from Various Books and Papers by Annie Hodgson, Brianstone, 1854-1855." A selection of testimonials from Publications "Collected for Harry Hodgson by his affectionate mother A.H. and given on his Birthday 18th Oct". Notebook with marbled cover in which Annie Hodgson has written extracts from articles praising Brian Houghton Hodgson. Also inserted is a comment signed B.H.Hodgson to a footnote from an article by Col. Phayre ("On the History of the Burmah Race", JASB vol. XXXIII, pp. 1-31, 1864). Handwritten, 2 pieces, 1854-1864.

"Testimonials to the value of my labours in literature, education & science collected by my darling Annie and found in her desk Mar 12 1868." Notebook containing handwritten copies and newspaper cuttings of testimonials concerning Hodgson's work ranging from 1849-1863. Notebook with marbled cover, handwritten and printed material. Also 2 further inserts with notes, dated 1849-1868.

Brian Houghton Hodgson seemed to be a keen compiler of lists, often of his specimens and drawings, and of his donations to the scientific and oriental establishments of his day. These were sometimes needed for transportation or storing of the articles itemised. This series comprises of 20 lists.

"List of Buddha Books & drawings, & of Statistics of Nepaul left in Residency in five Boxes, by B.H.Hodgson, Dec 1st 1837." Each box is individually listed and a sixth package also listed. Further notes are added and there is an additional heading which states that the boxes were repackaged in 1844 to take home. There is a note that all his literary and scientific stores are to go, in case of his death, to his father who will dispose of them to the advantage of Hodgson's reputation. Handwritten, 1 piece, 4 sides, 1837-1844.

"List of MSS relative to Nepal. Prepared in Nepal 1837". List of 22 items concerning vocabulary, geography and ethnography of Nepal with a further note from Hodgson: "NB all those marked thus (X) have been translated & the whole, original & translation, are with me on board the Hardwicke, Feb 9 1844 BHH". Handwritten, 1 piece, 2 sides, dated 1837-1844.

"Details of Contents of Bastas or Bundles in Trunk No. 1 Cathmandu AD 1842". Detailed list of MSS to be found in this trunk with additional note concerning the nature of the material: Buddhism, Vaisavalis, Jatmalas, Army details, Catalogues & Sastras. Also a further note informing they were repacked in 1844 and put on board the Hardwicke with Hodgson. Handwritten, 1 piece, 4 sides, dated 1842-1844.

"Total of Drawings at Canterbury - my original series, Decr 26, 1844." List of zoological, ethnographical and architectural drawings at Hodgson's father's home in Canterbury with additional note to inform that they were all being shipped with Hodgson in July 1845. Handwritten, 4 sides, dated 1844-1845.

"List of Buddhist Drawings, February 1845". Detailed list of series of drawings owned by Hodgson with further note to inform: "Left in my house at Darjeeling Decr 1852" Handwritten, 1 piece, 4 sides, 1842-1852.

These papers were collated in the interaction of the Malaysian Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society with the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland.
