Letter from J Forshale, Secretary, British Museum, to Brian Houghton Hodgson in which he is directed by the Trustees to acknowledge Hodgson's letter and to express the Trustees' thanks for the series of Skins and Drawings which Hodgson has presented to the Museum with the promise of completing the series. The trustees would like to accept this offer and will instruct their Officer to go to Hodgson at Canterbury to assist him on the preparations for these specimens and those for other institutions.. However the Trustees must also express their regret that they are unable to help with the publications which Hodgson has proposed - this falls beyond the remit they consider appropriate for them. Sem títuloCopy of an extract from the Overland Calcutta Star, 7th November 1845, to welcome Hodgson back to the country and to state that he has returned to pursue his scientific pursuits which they hope will encourage other Europeans in similar endeavours. A bust of Mr Hodgson, which the Asiatic Society requested in recognition of his services, is now in the large hall at the Museum in Park Street. It was executed by Mr Thornycroft and is considered a good likeness. Handwritten, 2 sides, dated 7 November 1845.
Letter from the Museum of Manchester to Brian Houghton Hodgson to inform him of their conferment of Honorary Member of the Manchester Natural History Society and asking Hodgson to send his full name for the Diploma. The writer also asks for Hodgson's help after calling several times at the British Museum but being unable to see the items he would like. He wonders if Hodgson might be able to borrow them. With this letter is a news cutting telling of the new donation from Hodgson of 224 bird skins, making nearly 2000 different specimens that he has donated. Printed material, undated.
