He expresses praise, on behalf of the Council, for Hodgson's work and how they agree that Sanskrit was the language in which the Buddha sages first committed their doctrines. Though they expect that Hodgson must have extended considerable money on his researches, and though they would wish to support him, funds will not enable them to do so.
