The papers of Charles Philip Brown consisting of three leather-bound volumes being a catalogue of Sanskrit manuscripts held in the the Madras College Manuscript Library comprising the author's collection; part of Colonel Mackenzie's collection; part of the East India House Library:

• Catalogues of Paper Volumes in Sanskrit, Teugu, Tamil, Marata, Malaysian in the Madras Library which are transcriptions of the originals on paper and bound as English books;
• Catalogue of Sanskrit Manuscripts - originals in Telugu, Karnataca, Grandha, Devanagara, Malaya, Odhra, Bangla;
• Catalogue of Sanskrit Manuscripts written on palm leaves and on paper.

The papers of Clinton Thomas Dent contain articles written by him as well as maps presumably used for his mountaineering activities in the Caucasian region.

These papers of Dennis Duncanson, dating from 1965 to 1976 are comprised of several manuscripts from his book, 'Government and Revolution in Vietnam ' (1968, OUP), as well as draft manuscripts from his other works. The collection also contains a variety of correspondence with academic organisations, personal friends, colleagues and professional acquaintances; review clippings of his book; newspaper cuttings on Vietnam; and collected material on Malaya and Singapore.

A manuscript containing a 'Translation of Dr Hahn's Damara-German Dictionary Presented to his Excellency Sir Bartle Frere... by the Translator Major Erskine... 19th January 1880'. Karl Hugo Hahn was a Baltic German missionary and linguist who worked in South Africa and South-West Africa for most of his life. This translation was undertaken whilst Erskine was Resident Magistrate in Walvis Bay, Damaraland (Namibia). Damara is one of the Khoisan languages of Southern Africa.

The manuscript is handwritten with many alterations. It is bound in a card and leather cover which shows considerable wear. One section of the manuscript has become detached from the spine.

This is a small collection consisting of 5 items:

• Ars Asiatica, 1931, vol. XVI, Les Collections Khmeres du Musee Albert Sarraut a Phnom-Penh, Par George Groslier. Inside front cover bears inscription "Richard Hare, Dorich House, Kingston Vale, SW15".
• A sheet of paper marked "Slides, Ars Asiatica" with plate details in the same hand.
• A receipt from Lloyds Bank to Hon. Mrs. D.G. Hare.
• A loose plate with photograph of Buddha from Pangkalan, Ipoh, Perak".
• A black & white photograph inscribed on verso with "Malay Head, Dora Gordine, Town Hall, Singapore".

"The Brahminical Mode of Computing Time and generally followed in all parts of Hindostan". A paper that was presented to the Royal Asiatic Society and read by Lieutenant-Colonel James Tod at the General Meeting of the Society on 21st July 1832, under the title of "Calculation of the Variation of the Measure of Time in India". The material is handwritten in ink with pencil annotations. Also with the paper is a comment upon the paper with criticisms of Haliburton's methods, dated 19 January 1833.

The material mainly consists of handwritten translations of Buddhist texts by Gogerly and others, handwritten Pali-English dictionaries, and later correspondence concerning their publication.

Typed manuscript of a 'Lecture delivered by Monsieur A.A. Pallis, Minister attached to the Greek Embassy, at the Turk Halkevi (Turkish People's House) London, on Tuesday, June 5th 1945, at 5.30 p.m.' The title of the lecture is 'A Turkish Seventeenth Century Baedeker: Evliya Tcheleby'. With the manuscript is the business card for Alexandre A. Pallis, Ministre de Grèce.

The papers consist of two translations from Buddhist paintings. These are:

• Translation of the History of the Dharmapala Jataka which is painted in the Kaluwella Temple, 3 pages with descriptive note on the 4th.
• Translation of the [Sambaive] Jataka or the history of the "King Dannanjaya Cooraw-wa", also painted in the Kaluwella Temple, 7 pages with descriptive note on the 8th.

The Papers of Angus C. Graham include material pertaining to both book and article publications, to reviews written and to his translation, poetry and short story work. It includes correspondence with other academics in his field and with some poets. There is material pertaining to appointments that he has held and conferences attended, notebooks, diaries and a single photograph. There is also a considerable volume of others' articles and some material concerning others' academic appointments.
