This is a series of correspondence mainly between W.E.D. Allen and Raleigh Ashlin Skelton (known as Peter to his friends, and in these letters). There is some correspondence with Skelton's daughter after Skelton was killed in a car accident.

Letter from Peter Skelton to W.E.D. Allen in which he confirms a time scale for the manuscript of Allen's "Russian Embassies" publication. He also writes that the Hakluyt Society have received a proposal from Richard Hill for a translation of the African travels of Evliya Celebi, and how that might conflict with Allen's own plans for such a publication. Dated: 23 April 1956.

Letter from Peter Skelton to W.E.D. Allen in which he writes that the Council of the Hakluyt Society would like Allen to accept their nomination to a vacancy on the Council at the Annual General Meeting. The Council meets four times a year and even if Allen could not attend all meetings, his opinions would be valued. Dated: 24 January 1971.

Letter from Peter Skelton to W.E.D. Allen in which he writes of his recent tour to America, since when he has been ill with influenza. He writes concerning the progress of the Russian Embassies and the material that Allen requires, and approves of Allen's hint that Bishop Veniaminov's papers may be published by the Society. Dated: 10 April 1961.
