The list seems to have initially been a store list for Hodgson compiled in 1858 but became the list of MSS given to the India Office in 1864. Along with the list is a copy of the letter from Hodgson to the Right Honorable Sir C Wood, Secretary of State for India, in which Hodgson writes concerning the acceptance of his donation for the India Office Library and lists the articles to be given.
