A project proposal addressed to Hakluyt Society and the Royal Asiatic Society regarding translating the works of Ottoman traveller Evliya Celebi, total of 10 volumes, 8 of which are in Arabic and 2 in Ottoman Turkish. Includes information about the importance of Celebi's works as a social history of 17th century Ottoman Empire. Proposes budget for the project and requirements of translators, editors and annotators. Dated: 9 October 1954.

Letter from Victor Louis Ménage to W.E.D. Allen in which he writes concerning difficulties finding Arabic translators. He also writes concerning references he has found and that, as he will soon be in Turkey, he cannot take up Allen's invitation to Ireland. However he hopes to see him in London in July to discuss the Evliya project. Dated 16 May 1958.

Letter from Peter Skelton to W.E.D. Allen in which he writes of a forthcoming C.A.S. dinner and discusses Mango's translation of Russian Embassies. He suggests that Allen put forward a proposal for a second volume to the Council of the Hakluyt Society and that the switch to Cambridge University Press has much increased the sales of the Society. He is pleased with Allen's choice of collaborator for Evliya, thanks him for the Russian catalogue and his news on the Arabic globe in Naples. Dated: 19 June 1958.
