This archive consists of registers, lists and correspondence concerned with the acquisitions and accessions of the Collections of the Society. The Society has not kept comprehensive records throughout its history. Further information pertaining to the Acquisitions of the Society can be found in the Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society and in the Minute books for the Council and General Meetings. Accessions continue in the life of the Society. More recent ones are held in the Society's records management system and will be transferred to the archive in due course.

This sub series contains the Donations Register for this Period and 4 lists pertaining to items donated to the Society.

Handwritten bound book detailing the Donations to the Society within that time period. The donations are listed chronologically and there is an index of donors at the rear of the book.

"Inventory of Curiosities presented by Capt. Dillon to the Royal Asiatic Society". Handwritten list of 29 items (1-27 but two entries at 6 and 8) donated to the Society by Captain Peter Dillon, dated 2nd January 1829.

"Catalogue of the collection of Burmese curiosities, belonging to Captn, F Marryat, R N, C B, Deposited in the museum of the Royal Asiatic Society", dated London February 16th 1829. List of 146 items donated - 53 figures of Buddha and 93 "Miscellaneous" items. Handwritten, 2 pieces.

"List of Books presented to the Royal Asiatic Society of London" from the" Council of the College of Fort William". The list is dated Calcutta, 18th November 1829, with further labels "College of Fort William. List of Books presented June 1830" and "Dr Conwell". Also a further label on a paper which was used to contain the list. Handwritten, 2 pieces, 4 sides.

"A List of Malay and Javanese Books - Lady Raffles requests to present to the Asiatic Society the Malay & Javanese manuscripts which were collected by Sir Stamford Raffles. Lady Raffles believes the enclosed Paper contains a list of them. Lower [Grosvenor] (address given in membership list 1825) Street Jul 12/30". The Donation is recorded as on January 16th 1830. Handwritten list, 3 pieces, 7 sides.

Eleven letters to accompany donations to the Royal Asiatic Society.

"The Singhalese Book is called Pansiyapanas Jatakaya" Explanation accompanying a donation of the book. The letter gives a comprehensive account of the book and its production and is signed as by written Benjamin Clough (1791-1853), Wesleyan Missionary in Sri Lanka, and dated 25 March, 1824. A further label reads "Sir A Johnston, Jan 7 1826".
