The records of the Public School Medal cover the institution of the medal and the conferment of the Honour in subsequent years. They include examples of the medal, an original Declaration of Trust, and subsequent printed versions of the declaration; correspondence and newspaper cuttings. However there are not records for all instances of the presentation of the Medal. Researchers are advised to also examine the Council Minutes and the Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society (both held in the RAS Collections) when researching concerning the Public School Medal and its recipients.

This series contains initial correspondence with donors; Declaration of Trust documents; Rules of the Medal; examples of the bookplate and Medal, and an offprint of an article from the Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society, 1984, pp.99-119, "The Emblems, Medals and Medallists of the Royal Asiatic Society" by John Hansman, which contains information pertinent to researchers of the Public School Medal.

Letter from V.R. Krishna Yachendra, Rajah of Venkatigiri, to Mr H.A. Sim, Madras Civil Service, in which he thanks Mr Sim and Mr Wollaston, Secretary of the Royal Asiatic Society, for their acknowledgment of his donation. He understands that it will not be used for the original purpose for which he sent it but is glad of the nature and beneficial purpose to which it will be put. Handwritten, 2 sides dated 6 November 1901.

Letter from G.N. [Gyputenab], Maharajah Gajapatti Rao (probably Maharajah Goday Narayana Gajapthi Rao) to Mr H.A. Sim, Madras Civil Service, in which he replies that he is in agreement concerning the use of his donation for the Essay prize. Handwritten, 2 sides, dated 10 November 1901.

Letter from Raja of Paralakhemundi (probably Gourachandra Gajapati Narayan Deo 2nd) to Mr H.A. Sim, Madras Civil Service, in which he writes that Mr Taylor had recently given him a letter regarding his donation to the Royal Asiatic Society and that he is in agreement of its use. Handwritten, 2 sides, dated 17 December 1901.

This is a Declaration of Trust Document for the Public School Prizes and Gold Medal; and Prize Publications for the Royal Asiatic Society. Dated to 1907 it includes the First, Second and third Schedules. Handwritten, signed, parchment document, bound with simple tape binding. Dated 17 December 1907.
