Copy of an extract from the proceedings of the Asiatic Society of Bengal for 1 May 1839 in which it was reported that Mr Prinsep was the official channel for the transmitting to Mr Hodgson of Nepal, the diploma and letter of appointment as Chevalier of the Legion of Honor of France. This honour was conferred in light of Mr Hodgson's study of the Buddhistical faith and for his procurement of Buddhist literature, and in making known a great variety of new objects in natural history and science. Draft of a letter from Brian Houghton Hodgson to the Secretary of the Royal Asiatic Society to send five sheets of drawings of Bonpa (Bon tradition, Tibetan religion) deities which were drawn by a mendicant friar on a visit to Darjeeling. He also send a copy of a Tibetan yantra which he writes the people of Tibet wear about their necks as charms. Hodgson writes that De Coros considered the Bonpas that oldest sect of Buddhism in Tibet and that the name lingers in the exorcist of certain tribes. Hodgson continues to write about the Bonpa and about Buddhism comparing and contrasting Tibetan forms with those of other parts of India. He comments on others' articles regarding Buddhism. There is postscript entitled "Addendum to 1st paper for JRAS" and a further NB regarding Tantrika Buddhism (unsure if part of the same correspondence). Handwritten, 4 pieces, 12 sides, dated 15 December 1860. This letter was printed in the JRAS 1861, pp.396-399 with the accompanying sheets of Bonpa deities.

Draft letter from Brian Houghton Hodgson to The Right Honorable Sir C. Wood, G.L.B., MP, Secretary of State for India, in which he writes with his concerns regarding a large collection of Manuscripts from Kathmandu concerning civil and natural history and Buddhism, which have been inspected by Mr Hall, India Office Librarian. He collected these to inform more about Tibet and wishes to tender to Sir C.Wood that they be deposited in the India Office Library. Handwritten, 4 sides, dated 2 August 1864.

Extracts of Draft Letters from Brian Houghton Hodgson to Sir Frederic Currie. There are two items in which Hodgson writes to Currie about his Buddhism studies.

Extract of Letter from Brian Houghton Hodgson to Sir Frederic Currie in which he writes about being awarded the Star of the Legion d'Honneur for his work on Buddhism and his liberality in donation in making available the "riches of this new mine" to French scholars. He writes that his work has also been published in English journals and copies of works discovered were sent to London and Oxford before being sent to France. Handwritten, 4 sides, dated 23 March 1866.

Correspondence with Dr Reinhold Rost (1822–1896). Rost was a German orientalist, who worked for most of his life at St Augustine's Missionary College, Canterbury in England. Five letters of correspondence between Reinhold Rost and Brian Houghton Hodgson dating to the period, 1868-1873.

Draft Letter from Brian Houghton Hodgson to Dr Reinhold Rost in which he writes of his concern regarding the ignoring and plagiarising of his work on Buddhism by other scholars in their articles and sets out instances where he feels this has occurred. Handwritten, 3 pieces, 9 sides, dated 18 August 1868.

Letter from Dr Reinhold Rost to Brian Houghton Hodgson in which he thanks Hodgson for his timely letter and remarks that Mr Fergusson's Paper was only of a provisional nature and that Fergusson has since been working on a book on snake worship In India. He assures Hodgson that Fergusson will be pleased to know of Hodgon's pioneering work in the field. He also writes that he has made a list of Hodgons's contribution to English and Indian periodicals except those of the Bengal Asiatic Society Journal. He does not know when he will be able to finish the list and suggests lending the Index of the Journal to Hodgson to get the pages copied out. Handwritten, 2 sides, dated 20 August 1868.
