              Letter from Josiah Forshall (1795–1863), Secretary British Museum, to Brian Houghton Hodgson on behalf of the Trustees of the Museum to thank Hodgson for his valuable present of a manuscript in the language of Tibet, being the Yum, part of the Prajnāpāramitā. Handwritten, 1 side, dated 15 May 1845. Additional notes in the autograph book state that Hodgson had given copies of the Prajnāpāramitā to different institutions and persons including the Royal Asiatic Society, the Bodleian Library, College of Fort-William in Calcutta (3 copies), and Eugène Burnouf at the Société Asiatique.

              Letter from Edward Byles Cowell to Brian Houghton Hodgson to thank him for the list of Sanskrit Buddhist books that he had sent. He writes of Max Müller's interesting lecture on the Sukhāvatīvyūha found in Japan. He requests that Hodgson search for a copy of the Dharmakośa (a copy of the commentary on this text by Yaśomitra was already available in Cambridge) and writes of Cowell's lecture to students on the Lalitavistara (Hodgson finally found the text of Dharmakośa compiled by Amritananda Bandya of Patan in Nepal and has been published by the Royal Nepal Academy). Handwritten, 4 sides, dated 24 February 1880.

              Letter from Professor Johan Hendrick Kern of Leiden to Brian Houghton Hodgson in which he acknowledges with thanks to Hodgson for sending his books and pamphlets. He praises Hodgson's works on Buddhism and discusses Buddhist topics including Northern Buddhism, and four philosophical schools. He writes about his work in progress relating to the history of Buddhism in the Dutch language, promising to send a copy of the book immediately after publication. Kern writes about the memory of his friend Brian Nahuys who had made Kern acquainted with Hodgson's name. Hodgson's title note with date of receipt on the front of the accompanying envelope. Handwritten, 3 sides, dated 26 June 1881.
