Letter from Captain H. Harkness, Secretary of the Royal Asiatic Society, to Brian Houghton Hodgson concerning his donation of the Sata Sahasrika Prajna Paramita and his promise of the Nava Dharma and other books of the Sangatas which are found in Hodgson's sketch of Buddhism. He expresses praise, on behalf of the Council, for Hodgson's work and how they agree that Sanskrit was the language in which the Buddha sages first committed their doctrines. Though they expect that Hodgson must have extended considerable money on his researches, and though they would wish to support him, funds will not enable them to do so. Handwritten, 3 sides, dated 24 January 1836.
