The Malaysian Branch was founded at the Raffles Library, Singapore, in November 1877, as the Straits Asiatic Society. It applied for incorporation with the Royal Asiatic Society which was enacted the following year when it was renamed as the Malayan Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society. In 1964, it became the Malaysian Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society. The Journal has been published since 1878.

Asiatic Society of Japan

The Asiatic Society of Japan was founded at a meeting in Yokohama on October 1872. Early meetings were held in both Yokohama and Tokyo. It was granted affiliation with the Royal Asiatic Society in 1873. This was severed in 1911 and re-established in 1912, and again it was formally admitted as an Associate Society in 1936. However the Society's affiliation with the Royal Asiatic Society continued to be a matter of concern through the 1970s.

Royal Asiatic Society Korea Branch

The Royal Asiatic Society Korea Branch applied to be an Associate Society in 1900 and this was approved in January 1901. As such, it is the oldest organization in Korea designed to introduce people to Korea in all its many aspects. Its early history was somewhat disrupted due to political difficulties but it has been continuously active since 1956. It remains an active international cultural and social organisation in Korea.

The Siam Society Under Royal Patronage was established in 1904 with a mission to promote knowledge of the culture, history, arts and natural sciences of Thailand as well as those of neighbouring countries. The Society's activities are guided by its motto: "Knowledge Gives Rise to Friendship" and it welcomes visitors of all nationalities, including non-members, to visit its facilities and join its activities.
